Why do I see things others don’t?

Have you ever watched a video and was shocked at the content and immediately went down the comments to see what people were saying, to only find out that no one seems to have seen what you have seen? You’re then left in shock thinking…am I crazy? How is no one talking about this? It’s grossly flagrant! I don’t understand…I must have misread or misunderstood the situation. You then go out to see a friend or a family member and “test” them out by showing them the video. You’re thinking to yourself, they’ll surely see it, we think alike…To your surprise, they also don’t see it…In fact, they, like most people, also see the surface level content. You’re left confused…really questioning yourself now. Do you see yourself in this? Because that’s me!

I am still navigating this whole thing as I’m writing this post.  I tend to only write about things when I’ve fully figured them out. But I watched a video that I’ll reference below, and it made me think that there may be more people like me out there, people that were gifted the capacity to watch a situation and see beyond what’s presented to them. People capable of seeing behind the smile, behind the loud voice, behind the acting. Discerning people, I’m going to call them. I have yet to fully grasp why I feel like I can see beyond what’s presented to me, but I’ve always been that way. Ever since I was young, though someone would act happy, I could see if sadness was hidden, I would then look at the person with compassion, which would make them very uncomfortable. I have grown to avoid looking at people directly to avoid making them uncomfortable.

You are not alone

I am writing this post for that one person, who like me, feels inadequate not knowing what to do with this skill, or for the person who constantly second guess their God given intuition. I’m not saying my intuition never failed me, I’m simply saying, it hasn’t often failed me.

That gift, if not properly understood, can isolate you, make you feel uncomfortable, make you doubt yourself a lot. I’m simply here to say, you’re not alone and you are not crazy. What you see, whether no one else sees it, is there. If you don’t know what to do with it, pray that God shows and guides you according to the purpose He’s got for you. I cannot tell you what or how to navigate it since we each have our own purpose. God made you with that special gift, thank Him for it and ask that He shows you what’s expected of you to do.

In this day and age and in the upcoming years, people will feel more and more unseen. We live in a very loud world where only those that scream get seen. Some of us have the capacity to see the quiet ones, look at them, acknowledge them and make them feel seen. Use your gift to bring to light to what everyone ignores. Many may also see what you see and won’t have the courage to speak up, make the difference and voice it. Protect the unseen/ignored, denounce injustice, educate where needed, speak truth where there’s lie propagated. Use your gift to bring light.

Do not be scared of rejection, do not be scared of people disagreeing or disapproving you. Speak in truth. What you see is there though no one, not even your own family, may see it. Trust me, I’ve been there. Sometimes you’re just the first one to make it to a certain destination, others may/will join you. In the meantime, stay put, have faith and trust.

I hope you feel encouraged, you are never alone! In the times when you feel isolated, pray and trust that God sees and hears you.

Stay blessed and leave an encouraging comment!
