Should believers wear bikinis?

What’s the limit of decency? What can or can’t you wear to be considered decent in this day and age?

Evolution of the women bathing suit from 1875 to 1927

First off, I’d like to illustrate the evolution of the bathing suit over the years.

I don’t believe I need to show what girls wear today, but ultimately it’s not much. In case you’re from a different country and are not aware of what the culture is like here in the occidental world, view the new average.

Trends evolve and clothes keep getting smaller to almost nonexistent, what then? Should we be of our times and follow trends? If the future new normal requires to wear no apparel at all, will we follow the crowd? I was born in a time where Britney Spears was the fashion model. Low rise and crop shirts were the trend. I did follow the trend back then because I didn’t know better. But now as a somewhat knowledgeable adult, should I still follow blindly? Everyone else does it right? How to behave as a believer?

Know your value

Your body is the temple of God (1 Corinthians 6:19), should you therefore expose it for everyone to defile with lustful looks? As a believer, would you have your blessings have a brother stumble in lust? (Romans 14:13-23) If God blessed you with a beautiful figure or anything else for that matter, should you then take advantage of that asset and purposefully have brother and/or sister to stumble? You are valuable to God, know your value. You don’t need for strangers to validate you or defile your intimacy, God knew you to be valuable when He created you, no one can add onto it or take from it, His value to you (Jeremiah 1:5 and Psalm 139:13-18), is perfect and complete. Some will object that they “do it for themselves” but I beg to differ. As a woman, I would certainly not wear makeup to go outside if I knew the city to be empty…or wear heels if no one would see me. I believe it to be a lie to our own selves to say we wear skimpy clothes, deliberately, for our own comfort. Know your worth, don’t sell yourself short. Not everyone needs to enjoy your blessings or your treasures, save them for the right person.

Be “in” the world not “of” the world (John 17:15-16)

Not because everyone does it that you should do it. Not because everyone does it, that it’s ok right to do. Do you not know about the story of Noah or the tower of Babel? Everyone moved in one accord to do the wrong thing. The mass may move in one direction; you don’t have to. Refuse the pressure, some trends are bad waves you don’t have to surf them all. Stand for your beliefs, and also know that most people simply follow trends even if it makes them uncomfortable or when they disagree with it. To not be set apart, most will get in line and not have the courage to stand in their conviction, so do not be afraid and set the standard. If many could do that, we would be able to make a change. Stand in your conviction! If you’re reading this, the same way I was compelled to write it, as I’m planning a vacation in the sun and was convicted…probably, so are you for your own personal reasons. Do the right thing and stand in righteousness.

Be blessed and do not hesitate to leave a comment on what you believe!!
